dc.description.abstractThis study aims to identify the types of figurative language and explain the meaning of figurative language used in the lyrics of the song Novo Amor. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The research data was taken from the song Novo Amor which is included in the album "Birthplace": Emigrate, Utican, Anniversary, State Lines, Birthplace, Seneca, Sleepless, Repeat Until Death, Oh Round Lake. The theory of figurative language used from X.J Kennedy, author of make observations by observing the lyrics of the song Novo Amor and taking sentences containing figure of speech. From the analysis, the writer finds that the figure of speech used in Novo Amor songs is very diverse. There are 63 hyperbole 31 (49%), metaphor 5 (7.9%), symbol 15 (23.8%), synecdoche 3 (4.7%), paradox 6 (9.5%), personification 1 (1.5%) ), simile 1 (1.5%), irony 1 (1.5%). The types of figurative speech that most dominantly found in Novo Amor’s song is hyperbole 31 (49%).en_US
