| dc.description.abstract | Development of information and communication technology (ICT) is currently increasing rapidly, especially the use of computer network systems that are currently not optimal, especially many small and large companies need network security on their computers.
Network security is very diverse which relies on hardware and software, one of the only IPFire OS, IPFire OS is one that can be a Linux-based router in the form of software. The purpose of designing IPFire OS is to make PCs become routers and to find out how to design routing systems and internet gateways and firewalls. This research is where on the design of IPFire based routers, starting with installation, followed by configuration of IP Address (system routing), Gateway and Firewall. From the design of IPFire OS testing results, Linux-based operating systems are capable of becoming routers, IPFire can design routing and gateway systems and Ipfire can be a firewall that serves as a device that allows network traffic which it considers safe to pass through and prevents unsafe network traffic . | en_US |
