This study aims to analyze speech disruptions in students’ speaking in oral presentations at the second grade of SMA Negeri 14 Medan, focusing on their types, causes, and impact on fluency. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observations and interviews, then analyzed based on Gleason and Ratner’s (1998) classification. The results show four types of disruptions: hesitation (27,78%), repetition (35,80%), false starts (11,11%), and filler words (25,30%), with filler words being the most dominant. These disruptions indicate difficulties in maintaining fluency in English speaking, which highlights the need for improved strategies in language learning. Factors influencing these disruptions include lack of preparation, low confidence, nervousness, and anxiety, which hinder students’ ability to speak fluently, things which mostly influence the students’ speaking was lack of preparation.en_US
